pcmcia cardbus tranfer speed firewire adapter?
i have a hp dv5237cl laptop. it has a built in firewire port on it (4 pin) i have a 4 in to 6 pin adapter and i am assuming it is 400mbps. but what i wondering is how fast does the cardbus sot transfer if i were to get a firewire 800 card for it? will the cardbus not be fast enough for me to get th full 800 speed or how fast does cardbus transfer?
Obvious the numbers tell the speed. 400mbps/8 bytes= 500K or 800mbps/8 = 1MB/s if you saving files to your hard drive through the cardbus interface than the transfers should be the speed of the hard drive interface which could be somewhere either IDE or SATA drives average about 2.5MB/s
Desktop system could reach transfers up to 5MB/s most typical system with those older system with ATA100 clock in at only 100K./s ATA133 about avg 300K/s up to highs 500K/s
