USB driver on pc faulty?
Have a dell computer that ONLY has USB ports -apart from power and VGA. The seperate 4 port hub and camera fails to work via usb, so I have deleted the usb hub from xp drivers (in the hope that it reinstalls when it boots up again)
Unfortunately it doesnt reinstall, and now i have a pc which i cannot operate by keyboard or mouse (as they are USB).
I am thinking of installing a PCI serial card - that I hope doesnt need additional drivers (as I cant update them as I cant operate the pc functions) - So I should be able to operate the pc via a serial mouse..
Any other suggestions would be greatfully received !
thanks joseph, but no USB works - even on the pc. The "USB HUB" is the driver within the XP drivers not a physical hub....
There was a hub that fitted externally, but that wasnt working - and that was a 1st indication that all was not well ...
I wouldn't use a USB external HUB. My experience with it is that it'll fail pretty quick. I've had so many I lost count. An internal USB 2.0 would probably work better.
There are quite a few as long as you type (AGP)/(PCI Express)/(PCI) USB 2.0 in the search engine of your shopping site and find one that fits your computer.
If it's a Dell USB internal, it's generally called "Intel(R) ICH10 Family USB" or something similar. You can also use "Driver Detective" to find it but don't download from them. Download from someone else if you find the description.
