Serial ATA or Parallel ATA?

in my comp, i tested the hard drive model no. in net and it said that it is a Parallel ATA type (Hitachi Deskstar 7K80).
But in my motherboard there is written Serial ATA in one side.
Now i want to purchase a hard drive and confused which type to buy,Serial ATA or Parallel ATA ???

What should i do ???

Pls help ASAP.

Bottom line is this. You remove the side of the case to view the motherboard. If you can see Sata connections, you can install a Sata hard drive. Get a flashlight and verify which of the Sata ports are "0" and install the drive on that port.

When you attach it, you will want to boot into Bios and verify that you have Sata ports turned on.

Depending on the make of the drive you purchase, they will have a program (disk utility) that you can download (if the disk didn't come with your drive) that can setup your drive as an exact clone of your primary drive or it can set it up as a secondary storage device.

If you do set it up as a clone drive, make sure that you go back into Bios and change the Hard Drive boot order.

Hope this does the trick for you.
