Lara Hall, violin

Lara Hall, violinLara Hall is a native of New Zealand where she is known nationally as a performer through regular concert tours. Groups that she has toured with include: Ivinkaia Trio, Kalos Quartet, and Goldfingers Quartet. She has been a soloist with the Auckland Philharmonia and Auckland Chamber Orchestra on numerous occasions and has also performed as a soloist with orchestras such as: Auckland Sinfonietta, Saint-Matthew's Chamber Orchestra, Manukau Symphony Orchestra and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. While still a teenager, Lara was awarded 5 violin diplomas and was invited to perform in most of the major New Zealand chamber music festivals. She was also Concertmaster of the Auckland Chamber Orchestra and New Zealand Youth Orchestra for several years, and has recently spent a short period as Acting Concertmaster of the Auckland Philharmonia.

Lara holds a Doctoral degree from the University of Michigan where she studied with Paul Kantor and Yehonatan Berick. Lara also holds an Advanced Diploma (DipMus Adv) from the University of Auckland majoring in Baroque violin and has performed as a concerto soloist on Baroque violin. She currently plays in an Ann Arbor early music trio ÔAmabile'. Lara has been recorded by New Zealand's national radio station "Concert FM" both on modern and baroque violin.

Lara taught extensively in New Zealand where some of her students gained top grades for Diploma exams. She has also had students successful in National competitions, and in the first violin section of the New Zealand Youth Orchestra and the Auckland Youth Orchestra. Lara was an adjunct violin teacher at the University of Waikato in 2003, and has taught master classes at various locations including the University of Auckland.
